Origins of Company
AlphaSniffer, LLC was founded in July 2003 by Dr. Misha Plam. In May 2008 the company name has been changed to BiOptix Inc. Dr. Plam is the former founder, CEO, President and Chairman of the Board of Sievers Instruments. Sievers Instruments successfully commercialized the Total Organic Carbon Analyzer, which became a key component that pharmaceutical and semi-conductor companies use to monitor organic carbon contamination present in their water supply. The device also flew aboard Russian space station Mir and is currently deployed on the International Space Station. Dr. Plam subsequently sold Sievers to Ionics (now GE) for $21MM. BiOptix is located in Boulder, Colorado where significant talent exists and can be recruited to drive the company’s developmental progress toward profitability.

BiOptix is in the R&D stage and has no revenues other than from SBIR grants.  It has received over $500K in SBIR grants over the past 4 years. BiOptix recently converted into a C-corporation upon closure of its series A venture capital round.
